Main Street America staff visits downtown

The MSA visit included a tour of the downtown district.

Main Street Fort Dodge welcomed Marcela Uribe of Main Street America on August 20. As part of her visit she spent time in the community learning about ongoing downtown revitalization efforts and provide guidance on future development strategies.

The visit reflects Fort Dodge’s continued progress in strengthening its historic downtown district through business support, building rehabilitation, and community engagement initiatives. During her time in Fort Dodge, Uribe met with local leaders, business owners, property owners, and volunteers to gain first-hand insight into recent accomplishments and emerging opportunities.

“We’re excited to welcome Main Street America to Fort Dodge,” said Main Street Fort Dodge Board President Megan Moore be. “Their expertise helps us build on the momentum already underway downtown and ensure that our revitalization efforts align with proven national strategies. This visit is an important step forward as we continue working to create a vibrant, thriving downtown district.”

The itinerary included a walking/driving tour of key downtown blocks, discussions on current and future preservation projects, and reviews of local challenges and opportunities. Main Street America will offer feedback and recommendations tailored specifically to Fort Dodge’s goals, including business development, historic preservation, and long-term economic vitality.

Main Street America is a nationally recognized leader in downtown revitalization, supporting communities through training, resources, and best practices that strengthen historic commercial districts across the country.
