In August, the Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID) in Fort Dodge, Iowa was one of the new Main Street Iowa communities during a formal announcement in Sioux City with Debi Durham, Executive Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). The new program will be under the direction of Kris Patrick as she takes over the role of Executive Director starting December 4, 2017.
The recent Main Street designation will bring a very exciting new addition to the development of the Historic District. With this new program, the Board is announcing Kris Patrick as the Executive Director with her official starting date as December 4th.
Main Street Fort Dodge has been working with Main Street Iowa since the August 2017 announcement. Main Street Iowa operates under the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IDEA) working with a select group of communities committed to exceptionally high standards for downtown economic development. Iowa currently has over 50 communities and is connected to a network of 40 programs across the country representing over 1,200 communities.
Kris will bring several years of experience as a Main Street Executive Director. She previously has been living in the Chariton community and working as the Chariton Main Street Director and Chariton Area Chamber Director. Her achievements in Chariton have been recognized across the state as she has developed strong relationships in the community.
“The addition of Kris as our Executive Director for Main Street Fort Dodge brings a fresh outlook to the revitalization of the District along with the experience to get this program going in the right direction from the start,” states Steve Pederson, President of the SSMID Board. “The community will be seeing a lot of Kris."
SSMID Board will oversee the program. Kris's office will be headquartered in the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance building.
